Flea Market Finds

This past weekend, I had some time all to myself and hit some flea markets.  Just for fun, I’m sharing some of my finds with you; a few that I brought home, and others I admired and left behind.

Jadeite dishes–I especially like that covered dish, third from the left.  And the juicer.  I don’t have any jadeite, nor do I need any, but I always like to look at it.

This set of Beatrix Potter books would have made a sweet addition to someone’s Easter basket.  We already own a collection of Beatrix Potter stories, so I left these for someone else to discover.  You’ve probably already heard that there is a new ‘lost’ Beatrix Potter story which will be published this fall.  This article discusses the new story, and contrasts it to Potter’s already published works.

I thought this wreath was a cute idea for spring, or for a nursery.  I couldn’t tell what it was made from–not a book; maybe vintage greeting cards?

I’ve made book page wreaths before, but I’ve never seen ones that are flat in the front.

I did purchase this book, for $2.50.  I have something of a weakness for vintage children’s books, as can be witnessed here and here.  This one was published in 1914, and is in good condition.

I also discovered this cute little red book shelf of discarded school library books from the 1970’s.  I bought this one for 75 cents for my own baseball loving boys.

I brought this home for their Easter basket as well.  Coffee table books can often be found inexpensively in flea markets or on amazon, and if you find one on a subject your kids are interested in, they make a great gift.

I also thought maybe these odd gold flower medallions could be made into something beautiful.  You can totally judge me, but I thought they were unique and had potential.  I wasn’t brave enough to buy them and try, but let me know if you have any ideas.

I also found this children’s book, which had nice illustrations, but was more than my $3 or less price limit, so I passed.

Those were the treasures I found. Do you love or hate thrift stores/flea markets/yard sales?  Is there something you always look for?
